Answer engine optimization

An AEO agency that works on the answer, not the acronym.

Answer engine optimization is the practice of structuring content so that engines can lift a direct, attributable answer from your page. Done properly it is a content and structure discipline. Sold badly, it is a schema plugin with a retainer attached.

$6,000–$10,000 per month · 90-day initial term · one client per category

What it is

Answer engines need something quotable. Most brand pages give them nothing.

A page that takes four paragraphs to reach the point will not be quoted. A page that states the answer in one clear sentence, backs it with a specific figure and marks it up properly, will be. AEO is largely the discipline of writing things a machine can extract without ambiguity.

01

Direct answers, stated early

Every commercially important question gets a clean, extractable answer near the top of the page it belongs on.

02

Specific figures over adjectives

Models quote numbers, prices, timeframes and named comparisons. They rarely quote claims about being industry-leading.

03

Structured data that matches the page

FAQ, product and organization markup that reflects what is actually written, rather than markup bolted onto vague copy.

04

Question coverage

The real questions buyers ask, mapped and answered, including the awkward ones about price and fit.

What is included

The work behind a quotable page.

This runs inside the same programme as SEO and GEO. We do not price it separately, because splitting it would mean charging twice for one editorial decision.

01

Question and intent mapping

The full set of questions buyers ask before choosing in your category, including pricing and comparison.

02

Answer-first content rewrites

Restructuring existing pages so the answer is extractable, then building the pages that are missing.

03

Structured data implementation

Schema that matches the visible content and supports attribution rather than gaming it.

04

Snippet and AI Overview tracking

Which of your answers are being surfaced, on which queries, and who is taking the ones you lose.

05

Ongoing editorial standards

A written house standard so your own team keeps producing quotable pages after the engagement.

Q

What is an AEO agency?

An AEO agency works on answer engine optimization: structuring content so search engines and AI assistants can extract a direct, attributable answer from your pages. It covers AI answers, Google AI Overviews and featured snippets.

Q

Is AEO the same as GEO?

They overlap and the terms are often used interchangeably. In practice AEO leans towards content structure and extractability on your own pages, while GEO leans towards brand presence and citation across the wider web. We run them as one programme because separating them would mean doing the same work twice.

Q

Does schema markup improve AI visibility?

It helps engines interpret and attribute a page correctly, so it is worth doing properly. It does not create visibility on its own. Schema on a page that does not rank and does not answer the question clearly will not produce citations.

Q

How is AEO measured?

By whether your answers get surfaced. We track featured snippets, AI Overview citations and answer presence across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, on a defined query set, against named competitors.

Q

How much does AEO cost?

Optimitor runs $6,000 to $10,000 per month with a 90-day initial term. AEO is included in the programme rather than sold as a separate product.
